Linking Virtual and Physical Space — Introducing XPAND Code Pixel!

We have released “XPAND Code Pixel”, a low-resolution version of XPAND Code! It will be available from 22 February. Displayable at just 160 pixels wide, it makes it possible to scan XPAND Codes from within in-game environments using a smartphone.

We have timed this release to coincide with the “Gaming Industry Business Matching Event in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey”.

2021.02.16 — Gaming Industry Business Matching Event in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey
Starting today, we are participating in a business matching event with gaming industry companies in Central and Eastern Europe and Turkey. With support from JETRO Bucharest, we are scheduled to meet with companies from Romania, Hungary, Moldova, Turkey, and more. We are working to advance the use of XPAND Code in gaming and esports.

For example, in “Animal Crossing: New Horizons”, it can be created using five custom design slots. (Note: the photo below is a simulation, but that image can actually be scanned.)

XPAND Code Pixel can also be used on LED display boards at bus stops or LED digital signage in shops — in fact, it was originally developed for bus applications. A 24-dot LED matrix requires just seven panels. (Note: again a simulation, but the image can be scanned.)

Customers already on a paid plan such as Pro can generate these at no additional charge. However, automatic generation is not yet supported, so if you need one please do let us know via the form on our website.
