XPAND Code is sometimes assumed to be a product that aims to replace the QR code, but this is a misunderstanding.
The role of XPAND Code is to fill the gaps that QR (even the horizontal rMQR) cannot cover — namely where large objects or high design quality is required.
Our recommendation is: QR for close-up and small objects, XPAND for distant and large ones.

We recommend using XPAND Code and QR code in tandem; XPAND Code Reader can read both types.
In most cases, a good rule of thumb is to use XPAND Code for items wider than 200–300 mm, and a QR code for anything smaller.
The free version of XPAND Code — Gratis — is sometimes assumed to be unsuitable for commercial use, but this too is a misunderstanding.
Unlike QR code, XPAND Code is centrally managed by us.
This means we can always disable links to illegal or suspicious websites and other harmful content.
That said, the product is intended for widespread use in both paid and free forms, and commercial use is fully permitted.
Once scanned, the service linked via XPAND Code (a mobile website, app, etc.) can also be accessed via a QR Code.
This makes it useful for adding an extra ‘entry point’ to any existing QR code-based service.

Simply enter the URL of your service into the XPAND Code Generator and you are ready to go.
You’ll be up and running in minutes!
