With an eye towards 2020, work had been under way to revise the JIS guidance pictograms (information symbols) used on signs and the like, and as part of this process 15 new pictograms were to be added.

The JIS revision is dated 20 July, but in order to allow venues to be ready before the summer holidays, XPAND Linked brought forward the release of a revision-compliant edition.
While 15 pictograms were added in the JIS revision, some of them are unlikely to be needed in everyday settings.
We therefore narrowed our product range down to just 7 of the most in-demand pictograms.
Pictograms such as the "Wireless LAN" symbol — where a variety of different designs had previously coexisted — will now be standardised to this one design going forward.
This is a new sign built to last well beyond 2020 and into the future.
